We don't all train our pets and even if we do, it doesn't guarantee that the pet won't do anything on its own. This can damage the property and, to avoid such a fuss, pets are not allowed in the apartments. The recommendation is issued in accordance with Article 9 (k) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act of 1960, according to which it is illegal for housing societies to pass laws prohibiting the entry of pets, even with the majority vote of the society's residents. According to Article 51 A (g), all citizens have a duty to feel compassion for animals and any living creature.
Society cannot create laws against dog harassment. Any act of cruelty to stray dogs is illegal under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. It is also a punishable offence under Articles 428 and 429 of the Indian Criminal Code.
